Musings from the photographer

Newborn Workshop with Ana Brandt

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of attending an in-person and very much hands-on workshop with Ana Brandt. If you're not familiar with Ana, she's one of the leading newborn and maternity photographers in the United States. Ana has won a great deal of amazing awards based on her artwork, and her work is beyond stunning. It was truly an honour to join her for a day of newborn and maternity photography. It was a long day full of two newborns, two pregnant mamas, and lots of laughter, smiles, and even some tears (from the babies, of course!). At the end of the day, the take-away from the sessions was amazing. Ana was very open and welcoming, with no question being too silly. And as a p

Full of hearts

The world. It's full of hearts, full of love, full of emotion. Such is the beautiful holiday that is Valentine's Day. I've had the pleasure of doing 12 Valentine's Day minis thus far this year, with another batch this week. It's been such fun working with all of the sweet little ones! I still have space for a few more on-demand Valentine's Day minis these next two weeks. Two adorable sets are ready-to-go, and I can't wait to meet all of my cute Valentines! Please contact me at kirsten@kirstenlauferphotography.com to set up your session today.

Cake Smash with Miss J

Miss J was one of my first newborns a little over a year ago. It somehow seems fitting that she would be the first little one to bring cake into my new studio space with her 1-year-old cake smash and portraiture session. (Yep, I've moved into a new studio space - having given up my temporary den space for a much more permanent - and much more amazing - studio! Additional photos to follow in the coming weeks.) We had a great time playing with the washbasin, enjoying a 1-year-old's sized rocking chair and rocking it out with the cake. She dove in hands-first, but interestingly enough, baby J wasn't interested in much more than dabbling with the frosting. Still, it was an adorable cake smas

A beautiful family session

I first met the J family last year, when their sweet little boy was part of my aviator mini sessions. A few months later, we met up for photos of the entire family at Stanley Park. In typical winter fashion, the weather leading up to the day was pretty...well...not so pretty. Our photo shoot dawned sunny and bright, and we had a gorgeous time playing in the park and capturing memories. What an adorable family. Thank you for asking me to capture your memories, J family!

Valentine's Day!

A few pouts, a few tears, a visit from our cat and a 2-year-old who refused to participate...such is the life trying to get my own kids corralled for their Valentine's Day photos. That being said, it was really fun - looking forward to all of my Valentine's Day minis in a few weeks! Spring mini sessions of all sorts!

It's already five days into 2018. Where has the time gone? I can't believe that Christmas vacation is almost over, that we're talking about resuming school soon. How did it happen? Alas, with the changing seasons come a changing season for photography. Here are some of the wonderful changes that are coming to Kirsten Laufer Photography. I'm excited to announce that this spring, I am upping my offerings for newborn and maternity by taking two separate on-site workshops - one with the amazing Ana Brandt (http://www.anabrandt.com) this January, and another with Eden Bao (https://www.edenbaophotography.com) this April. Both of these photographers are the absolute top of the game, and I feel
